Gorr asks Rapu for water and food in the movie’s opening. He and his daughter are hungry. Gorr holds his daughter as she dies. Gorr mourns his daughter’s death when he hears whispers and finds his god Rapu celebrating.

Gorr calls him his last disciple, but Rapu and Rapu mock him when he asks for eternal reward for his sufferings. After Rapu tells Gorr there is no eternal reward, he worries about his recently deceased daughter.

Rappu celebrates the Necrosword holder’s death. The cursed god-killing Necrosword. After Gorr renounces Rapu, the sword rises and tells him to avenge and reach Eternity. Gorr kills Rapu. Korg describes Thor’s love for Earth’s Jane Foster. After losing Jane, Thor lost friends, parents, and brother. Thor meditates until needed.

Quill asks for help. Thor departs with the Guardians to fight Buksans. Yakan, the King of Saturn, tells him that the Buksans destroyed their temples after their gods were killed and no one cared for them. Thor rages against Buksans.

Thor defeats the Buksans alone but accidentally destroys the Temple, saddening Yakan. Thor thanks everyone for their victory and cuts to Jane Foster in a CT scanner. Jane explains her book to a man reading it.

Darcy informs Jane she has 4th-stage cancer. Jane refuses Darcy’s suggestion to spend time with Thor. Jane’s chemo is ineffective, so her friend’s doctor can’t help her. Later, Jane reads about Mjolnir, which grants its owner immortality. Next, Valkyrie interacts with humans in New Asgard, where Asgardians live with humans.

After a group of tourists leaves Mjolnir, Jane stays and the pieces move, causing clouds. When Thor mentions the Temple, Yakan gives Thor two giant goats for his services and leaves. Thor stops the Galaxy Guardians from killing giant goats in their ship. The god butcher kills many gods, causing many distress calls. Quill objects when Thor asks the guardians to help Sif.

Thor is sad and alone when Quill tells him to be strong and that he will find someone to love. Quill consoles Thor after he says he left because he lost everyone he loved. Thor and Korg visit Sif after the Guardians leave. Finally, Thor finds Sif dying on the battlefield and hoping for Valhalla.

Thor says they can only go to Valhalla if they die in battle, but she survived. Sif tells Thor the god butcher tricked her. She shocks Thor, who has sworn to kill all the gods, by saying his next target is Asgard.

Gorr’s shadow monsters attack Asgard. Thor, Korg, and Valkyrie fight monsters. Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor after Mjolnir returns. Thor is surprised and requests her face. Korg explains Jane’s face to Thor. Despite being from different worlds, Thor and Jane were perfect for each other but worried about losing each other over time. After Thor read her letter, Jane left.

They reunited after their legend. Jane won’t discuss her Thor-likeness. Thor attacks Gorr. Gorr defeats Thorr, but touching his axe irritates him and he throws Gorr away. Gorr escapes Valkyrie, Thor, and Jane and kidnaps all of Asgard’s children.

Thor confronts Jane about leaving him after Gorr and his monsters leave. Jane says they left each other, but it’s pointless to keep track. After seeing his ex-hammer and ex-girlfriend succeed, Korg asks Thor how he feels.

His axe sees Thor calling Mjolnir. After that, mothers panic around Valkayrie and the Asgard administration. Thor calms everyone and saves the children, but Stormbreaker expels him for cheating.

Thor returns to Jane and Valkyrie to discuss where to find the children when Heimdall’s son, Axl, teleports Thor in ghost form among the children. Thor encourages the kids and promises to save them.

After finding themselves in the shadow realm, Thor teleports to Asgard. Thor tells Valkyrie that the children are in Shadow Realm, so they think Gorr set a trap because he uses shadows and will be strongest there.

Valkyrie and Thorr rally the gods against Gorr in Omnipotence City. Jane asks Thor where Zeus and other gods meet. Meeting Zeus surprises Jane. Since Storm Breaker hates Thor and has caused damage, they use a boat with Storm Breaker as an engine.

Storm Breaker bridges Omnipotence City while Thor’s goats pull Valkyrie’s boat. Thor then asks Jane how she became Mighty Thor. When Jane approached Mjolnir, its pieces swirled and made her like him. They visit Omnipotence City. Valkyrie gives her friends emotion-colored disguises. Zeus flaunts at the meeting where Thor and his friends disguise themselves.

Zeus is interrupted by Thor stopping Valkyrie and Jane from stealing the Thunderbolt. Zeus calls Thor onstage, and Thor reveals everything about Gorr and requests an army before killing anyone else. Zeus scorns him and all dead gods. Adding that every god protects their people, he can’t help. Zeus says Gorr cannot replace Eternity.

Valkyrie tells Jane that Eternity is at the center of the earth and blesses the wishes of everyone to reach it first, so Gorr will want to kill every god. Thor calls him a coward, but Zeus says he is afraid because Gorr has Necrosword, which can kill them, and he can use Thor and his friends to track Omnipotence City. He has guards arrest Asgardians.

Valkyrie fights guards with permission. Zeus Thunderbolt kills Korg. Thor gets sad and catches Zeus’s Thunderbolt, killing him. After finding Korg alive, Thor gives Valkyrie Korg’s head and asks him to call the goats.

Valkyrie takes Thunderbolt to Shadow Realm after Korg calls the goats. Thor apologizes with beer for admiring Thunderbolt, angering Storm Breaker again. Thor tells Storm Breaker his only weapon is his first beer.

Valkyrie sends Jane to Thor, who tells her he wants to be with her forever and closed his heart to everyone before she returned. Hearing this saddens Jane and reveals her cancer. Thor astonishedly tells her to be happy. Mjolnir didn’t help Jane’s cancer. Jane’s Mjolnir victory inspires Thor.

Jane kisses after saying she wants to save the kids and go home. Valkyrie interrupts to announce Shadow Realm arrival. Colors disappear as they search the Shadow realm for the kids. After the trio splits, Jane finds a drawing indicating Storm Breaker is the key to Eternity. Jane warns Thor and Valkyrie and throws Storm Breaker. Gorr arrives seeking Storm Breaker. Gorr kidnaps and calls Thor’s axe. Gorr informs them when Thor refuses.

After Valkyrie prayed, his sisterhood and family died. Gorr tells Jane that, unlike her, the sword gave him new life, but the gods will use her and not let her recover as she dies. Gorr tells Thor he believed Rapu but let her daughter die for nothing. Gorr tortures Jane and calls Thor. Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane fight Gorr’s monster. Gorr thunderbolts Valkyrie. Gorr steals Thor’s Bifrost back home.

Jane is critically ill when Thor and his friends return to Asgard. A doctor informs Thor that Jane is too weak to fight cancer. Thor returns to Jane furious. Jane goes despite Thor’s offer to bring the kids. Thor loves her, but Mjolnir weakens her. He doesn’t want to miss his last chance to ask her to rest.

Jane consents to Thor’s return. Valkyrie gives Thor the Thunderbolt and asks him to return alive with the kids. Kids watch Gorr prepare for Eternity.

Gorr anchors Storm Breaker to open Eternity, and a statue falls on the kids. Thor saves them. Gorr’s demons kill. Thor gives the kids temporary powers and tells them to pick up everything. The kids kill demons while Thor fights Gorr. Gorr defeats Thor after Jane awakens with Mjolnir. Before Gorr kills Thor, Jane attacks. Thor misses Jane.

Jane orders him to the Storm Breaker while occupying Gorr. Thor fights demons for Storm Breaker. Thor throws Storm Breaker to Axl to take the kids home after defeating the demons. Thor fights Gorr with Thunderbolt and sword. Mjolnir smashes the sword. Jane absorbs the sword’s pieces into Mjolnir when it regenerates. Gorr gets the handle. Jane destroys Mjolnir, destroying Necrosword. Jane collapses when Mjolnir breaks.

Jane and Thorr join Gorr in Eternity when Thor turns. Before destroying all gods, Thorr tells Gorr he wants love, not revenge. Thorr tells Gorr he will die with his love. He gives Gorr everything and says he can bring his daughter back. Jane assures Gorr that Thor will care for his daughter.

Gorr’s daughter arrives. Jane tells Thor how she felt after picking up Mjolnir. Thor takes Jane to Valhalla. Gorr dies in his daughter’s arms after asking Thor for protection. Korg then describes how Jane sacrificed herself and taught everyone worthiness. Korg returned to Asgard, regenerated, and had a child with his friend. Thor married and fathered. Thor adores Gorr’s daughter.

Thor teaches her to defend against evil. The movie ends with “Love and Thunder” as their nicknames.
