In the opening of this Horror, Mystery, Thriller Movie, Bol dreams about his daughter Nyagak drowning while fleeing the war. Bol wakes up to his wife Rial asking him what he dreamed about. Bol lies about dreaming about their wedding. A white man abruptly requests gym time. A man warns them they’ll go to prison before the gym.

Bol and Rial face the jury and are released from prison by a man. The couple is excited, but they are told they can go under strict conditions and will be arrested if they make a mistake. They cannot leave home due to government relocation. Go home. A man greets them and says their new home is many of their race’s dream.
Mark draws a doctor and neighborhood map. After telling the couple to be good, Mark signs the documents and leaves. Bol assures him that they are not ready to return to Detention. Bol cries while watching Rial’s daughter’s doll after Mark leaves. Later that night, Bol awakens to wall noises. Bol investigates the noises through the wall but is frightened by someone behind him.
Next day, Rail rescues Bol’s daughter’s doll from the trash. Bol throws the trash out and waves at a woman watching him through her window, but she doesn’t respond. Bol shops and is invited by a man at the church on his way home. Bol and the locals sing for Red Crouch after eating. Bol returns home and invites his wife out tomorrow.
Bol wakes up and fails to turn off the bulb after hearing the buzzing. He sees a hole as the wall paint falls. Bol pulls a rope from the hole, turning off the bulb. Someone takes his daughter’s doll from the rope and puts it in the hole. Bol is frightened, but the hole disappears. Next morning, Rial hears a noise while cleaning. She checks many tribespeople. Shopper Bol buys a hammer.
Rial leaves home with Mark’s map but can’t find the church. Three colored children bully her and use her language. Rial’s doctor compliments her necklace but gets no response. After the doctor examines her marks, Rial tells her that she belongs to two warring tribes and survived by marking herself with their symbols.
She then says she lost her daughter Nyagak, which is awkward. A peach asks Rial to follow when the fruits fall. Rial is shocked to see through the wall as she follows. Bol excitedly tells his wife over dinner that he found them a job and they can start a family. Rail tells him about a man who was so greedy to build his house that he stole money from an old man living next to the river, unaware that he was an apeth.
The man built his house, but the apeth followed him and made him hear his walls whisper until it ate him. She accuses Bol of lying and claims the witch followed him and asked him to return to Nyagak. Bol angrily tells her their daughter died. Humming and a man painting the walls follow. When he approaches Nyagak, she attacks. Bol leaves the house scared but acts normal as he watches his neighbor.
Bol burns Nyagak’s cursed memories. Bol sees Nyagak’s necklace on Rial and stops burning the doll. Bol burns the necklace against orders. After dinner with Rial, she chastises Bol for thinking her mad. Rial says the witch promises to return them to Nyagak. Bol gets fed up and tells Rial he found her a job because she thinks rubbish. Rial leaves because his reassurance that it’s their house bothers him.
Bol is attacked by ocean corpses after Rail leaves. Spirits possess Bol, who wakes up on the floor. Nyagak awakens Bol again. He chases her behind the wall but is attacked by many spirits; when Bol turns on the light, he is alone. Bol slams the wall, saying it’s his house.
Bol visits Mark’s office the next day to request a new house, claiming the rats are making them sick. Mark suspects Bol is sick and offers to find him a new home after visiting his house. Bol politely requests and accidentally breaks his glass. Bol leaves work anxious. Before Bol can respond, Mark arrives with his colleague. Mark is perplexed. Bol persuades Mark by claiming to be good.
Rial tells Mark their house has a witch and her husband spent the night chasing it with a hammer. Rial asks Mark to include this in his report, and while leaving, the couple hears Mark report the case. Rial mocks Bol for begging and thanking white people while Bol asks how she can forget all they went through to get this house.
Rial claims he quickly forgot their daughter. Bol confronts the witch alone at night. He awaits the witch’s words. The witch is a nighttime beast-killer. The witch gives Bol a knife to kill him and says she wants his body for Nyagak.
After asking why the witch doesn’t kill him, Bol realizes she can’t. Bol is excited, but the witch lulls him. Bol awakens at sea and imagines Nyagak attacking him. Bol stops Rial from leaving the house in the morning after seeing Bol isn’t himself.
Rial escapes by self-injuring. Rial flees her tribe and ends up in school, where her friend leads her to a classroom. Rial meets friends and realizes she’s dreaming. Rial asks about her daughter, shocking everyone by revealing she never had one.
Rial recalls Bol’s rescue. They hid until they found a bus and boarded using Nyagak when the village was attacked. Villagers killed Nyagak’s mother. Rial and Bol protect Nyagak, but Bol fails to save her when she falls into the sea while crossing. Rial grieves for Nyagak. The witch says Rial can return Nyagak if she cuts her husband’s body open and gives her a knife.
She is unconscious when Bol brings him inside. Bol awakens her, and the knife confuses her. Bol cuts his arm and asks Rial to leave before acting. Rial asks Bol why. Bol watches Nyagak and everyone who died that day. Bol tells her to leave because the witch will get him. The witch attacks Bol after Rial leaves.
Nyagak holds Rial’s hand as the witch takes Bol. Rial cries and leaves. Rial stabs the witch. Mark and two inspectors visit Bol and Rial next. They photograph everything while Mark questions the witch. Bol says Rial killed it, and when asked about Nyagak, Bol says a man’s ghosts always follow but shouldn’t control you. Mark and his team leave with the records. After Mark and his team leave, the couple looks at Nyagak and other spirits who died with her, ending the movie.
