In the opening of this horror, mystery, thriller movie, Haley plans to try séance with her friends on Zoom during the lockdown because it has never been done before. After adding her friends to a zoom meeting, Haley changes clothes. After changing clothes, Haley hears noises in her house and sees clothes falling from the wardrobe on herself. She discovers that her friend Remma is throwing stones through the window to get her attention because she was waiting to join the zoom meeting. Haley adds Remma, and they talk weirdly about what to experiment with. After Emma joins them, they want to try online séance.
Radina and Caroline join the discussion. Caroline makes them greet her father, who seems very frank with her daughter’s friends, and Radina tells her friends that her father is not careful about the lockdown and is very naughty. Allen, Radina’s boyfriend, makes background noises. Radina leaves her friends and fights with her boyfriend, who leaves the living room. Haley and her friends worry about her and think moving in with a stranger is a bad idea.

Emma then shows them her scary séance filters. Haley tells her friends that Teddy, their male friend, will join them, and they gossip about her wife, Jinny. Haley adds Jinny, and they all greet his wife. Teddy leaves her in the pool while Haley and others make fun of him for enjoying the lockdown. Teddy returns home and tells them about his in-laws’ rules. Teddy shows them a doll toy with creepy music and says his deceased brother used to scare him with it as a child.
Haley then adds her friend Seylan, who has helped her with séances and is very experienced. Haley asks her friends to respect Seylan, her friend. Teddy asks everyone to toast their séance before adding Seylan. Remma toasts with water while Haley takes a picture online. Everyone accepts Seylan. Before starting, Seylan admits that this is her first online séance. In a séance, everyone sits in a circle and holds hands, but Seylan says they’ll have to imagine it. Seylan then asks them about their trigger objects, which connect them directly to the spirits of those they want to communicate with. s
Seylan then advises them to imagine cutting the rope tied to their back with a knife or scissors to break the connection if they feel bad. Remma then questions her Chinese grandparents’ language barrier. Seylan tells them there are no barriers in the astral plane and that they may get a face, name, or physical signs that the spirits are trying to communicate with them. Jinny interrupts Seylan’sisochronic tones, disconnecting Teddy from the meeting. Seylan requests focus and respect for spirits and others.
Then Seylan sees a moving light on Radina’s camera that looks like a spot on the screen, and everyone laughs at him until they hear a noise from Haley’s side. When they try to contact the spirit, Seylan hears a knock at her door and leaves, saying her delivery has arrived. Haley’s friends tease her for lying and wait for Seylan to return. Seylan returns and asks everyone to focus and repeat what she says to connect to the spirits. Haley feels someone pressing on her shoulder and gets scared. After discussing what happened to Haley, Remma claims that someone has tried to press her neck, which is almost unbearable. Seylan asks Remma how she feels and to relax. Remma thinks “Jack.”
Remma tells everyone that Jack, a good friend from school, hanged himself and cried. Seylan loses connection and leaves the meeting. Remma then admits she was lying and nothing happened. After that, everyone takes a break, and when they return, Haley gets mad at Remma for lying and tries to contact Seylan while her friends argue. Haley is pulled into the wall behind her. After witnessing the incident, Haley asks everyone to repeat it with her and asks the spirit to show more signs if it wants to connect.
Haley again listens to a noise and holds her laptop, and others are stunned to hear the mysterious noises alone. Caroline leaves her house to investigate a thudding sound after Haley returns. She finds the noise in the attic and shows her friends when they see a pair of feet. Caroline retreats. Haley notices movement again when she visits her bedroom. Haley shows her friends a dead body hanging from the roof after taking a picture. Emma’s candleglass breaks when they’re scared.
Emma becomes afraid, and Haley calls Seylan, who questions them and learns they had terrible experiences after losing her connection. Seylan explains that Remma’s lying has invited spirits, and if they’re lucky, they’ll survive, but if not, the spirit could be demonic. The call disconnects when Seylan questions the spirit, so they try to cut the connection by following Seylan’s advice. They relax after imagining cutting the rope.
Caroline leaves her room and her background video plays as they work. Radina calls Allen and finds his phone in the bedroom. Radina waits for Allen outside when Haley and others warn her about the fire behind her. Allen’s corpse falls from the ceiling when Radina appears. A supernatural power drags Radina back and knocks her out by breaking her head. However, when Emma touches a mask in the air, it disappears and an invisible power attacks her.
Emma hides in her blanket. Haley and Remma argue, blaming each other for their situation. Haley is attacked, pulled back into her room, and locked in. Remma rescues Haley. Emma notices Teddy joined the meeting late while alone. Teddy ignores Emma’s warnings and is attacked by the demon. He rushes to save his wife, but the supernatural power takes her and kills her.
Teddy tries to escape but is killed and burned on camera. After that, Emma tries to leave but falls from her apartment building and dies. Remma breaks into Haley’s house and hits her head while searching for her. Remma wakes up and enters Haley’s dragged room. After searching, Remma finds Haley, who advises her to leave the house and take her camera to see the spirit. Sadly, a demonic spirit attacks them before they leave the house, ending the movie. The “Host” cast recorded a zoom séance in the post-credit scene. The film concludes.
